About the event
Zorzal (Spanish for wood thrush) is a vocal and instrumental ensemble dedicated to the performance of Spanish, Latin American, and Sephardic music from the 12th century to the present.
This concert, Resistance and Endurance: Music from Colonial Latin America, the Sephardic Diaspora, and the Convivencia, features folkloric music from 18th century Peru, songs from the Sephardic community in Sarajevo, and Spanish music based on vibrant Arab and New World rhythms.
According to Artistic Director Lynn Gumert, “the concert weaves together songs about conquest and resistance, colonization, war and slavery, but also explores the way that music traditions are transformed at the crossroads of different cultures.”
The concert features guest artists Eleanor Dishong (Soprano) and Moses Possible (baritone).
