Mostly Motets
Vocal Ensemble
Renaissance
Mostly Motets is a vocal ensemble made up of fifteen musicians from the Yardley/Princeton area, singing under the direction of Timothy Carpenter. The organization was founded in 1996 as a sight-singing group but it quickly evolved into a performing chamber choir with several concert engagements each year. Many of the singers of Mostly Motets are former or current members of Princeton Pro Musica. Others have sung with Princeton Opera Association, the Westminster Choir, the Pearson Ensemble, and various church and community choirs.
Mostly Motets' ever-expanding repertoire includes a wide range of secular and sacred music, dating from the 1200s to the present day. Most works are sung a capella, or without instrumental accompaniment. However, the group has performed with ensembles of string or wind instruments, both ancient and modern, such as La Fiocco and Newtown Chamber Orchestra, and with harpsichord or organ accompaniment.
