On Sunday. March 23, 2014 at 3: PM, VOICES presents Handel’s Samson.

Witness the war between the Philistines and the Israelites, Dalila’s deception, Samson’s struggle to accept his weakness, and the strength of a father’s love. Composed in 1741, just after Messiah, this work is full of outstanding instrumental writing, exciting choruses, and moving arias, on period instruments:  baroque strings, baroque oboes, natural trumpets, harpsichord, & theorbo.

See a demonstration of the instruments at 2:30 pm, before the concert.

The Friends of Music of Grace Episcopal Church present  Les Agréments de musique.**   Minju Lee, harpsichord, and John Burkhalter, recorder, performing a concert of French Baroque Music Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 4 pm Grace Episcopal Church, 43 Elizabeth Street, Pemberton, New Jersey.  Free-will offering in aid of the Friends of Music.

Recorder players of all levels are invited to the Highland Park Recorder Society's* Recorder Playing Session on Monday, May 8, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Parlor room of the Reformed Church of Highland Park, NJ, 19 South Second Avenue in Highland Park. There is free parking in back of the church which may be accessed via Magnolia Street. ADA handicapped accessible.  Maestro Robert Butts is our guest conductor for this event.

Our final open playing session for this season will be on June 5th, with guest conductor Mr. John Burkhalter III.
