*Practitioners of Musick - The Practitioners of Musick, John Burkhalter, recorders, Gavin Black, harpsichord, and David Black, ‘cello will present a program of works by Italian and English Baroque masters, including Veracini, Mancini, John L’oeillet, and Mr. Handel. Quartet New Generation - Berlin-based Quartet New Generation—Susanne Fröhlich, Andrea Guttmann, Hannah Pape, and Heide Schwarz—mesmerizes its audiences through innovative programming that juxtaposes contemporary and early music. Performing on upwards of 20 different recorders of varying sizes and shapes during the course of a typical performance, the Quartet transports the listener into new sonic worlds, confirming the traditional recorder’s viability as a modern classical instrument. 8:00pm, Wolfensohn Hall, Institute for Advanced Studies, Einstein Drive, Princeton, NJ. * Le Triomphe de l'amour - Music and Magical Creatures. Laura Heimes, soprano, Donna Fournier, viola da gamba, Janet Palumbo, harpsichord, John Burkhalter, recorder, with guest artist, Elissa Wagman, baroque violin. The music for this concert includes works involving sorceresses, fairies, and other magic creatures. Music by Handel, Couperin, and others will be performed. A pre-concert talk, by John Burkhalter, beginning at 7:30 PM, will explore the presence of magical creatures in music and art. The concert to begin at 8:00 PM at the Unitarian Church at Princeton, 50 Cherry Valley Road, Princeton, NJ.
